On a challenging site in the downtown waterfront area of Santa Barbara, this 40 unit condominium project is designed to transform a previously commercial and industrial area into a desirable neighborhood including its own corner store (our beloved Metropulos!). Through the extensive community involvement and a controversial approval process, we were able to preserve mountain views, provide whimsical, varied streetscapes and cluster the buildings to add noise protection from the highway. The design is new urbanist and incorporates open landscaped spaces with multiple cobblestone paved courtyards in the spirit of a walkable Mediterranean village.
